Why Our Custom-Built Devinci Wilson Carbon is Lame

We recently put together Devinci’s new Wilson Carbon frame with a collection of parts that we thought was a race-ready build kit capable of tackling a season of racing. After it came together in the stand, everyone in the shop took their turn ogling and ooing and drooling. Then we put it on the sales floor, and we all realized there was something critical missing from the bike: color. On the sales floor, the bike doesn’t “pop.” It just sits there, grey and rad. No one takes notice. So if orange is the new pink, then maybe stealth is the new “meh.”

We don’t think about these things when we’re putting together bikes. Maybe we’ll throw in some red or gold if someone asks for it, but none of us here can fluently recite the 64-pack Crayola box. We typically think in terms of function over fashion, since what is fashion-forward #matchymatchy to one person might be skittle puke to someone else, but fast will always be fast.
